The Intercultural Guide: How to Build schools that Invest in cultural learning and Invite students to be their authentic selves.
"Intercultural describes communities in which there is a deep understanding and respect for all cultures. Intercultural communication focuses on the mutual exchange of ideas and cultural norms and the development of deep relationships. In an intercultural society, no one is left unchanged because everyone learns from one another and grows together."

When we build a capacity in all students, staff, and community to recognize and honor every culture, we create spaces where cultural practices can be shared, difficult conversations had, and intercultural learning take place. When intercultural learning takes place, true collaboration occurs and everyone rises together.
When we invest in Cultural Learning in schools by intentionally implementing cultural learning across all educational spaces (training student leaders of cultural clubs, helping to fund culture club activities, and centering more activities around culture) we greater increase representation, equity, diversity, and inclusion in our classrooms and campus wide.
When we invite students to show up and be their authentic selves, we don't limit them with a specific school spirit model . When students feel valued for who they are, they feel safe to learn and add upon themselves. As we invite student authenticity, we extend the invitation to families and communities to come and be apart of a truly intercultural experience.
